
Tep60 was the locomotive widely used in the former Soviet Union for passenger traffic before it's newer cousin Tep70.
Tep60 was also the first locomotive built solely for this purpose.
Almost 1500 units were built between 1960 and 1987 and some are
still in use in Russia as well as in countries like Latvia.
Tep 60 existed both in a form of a single unit version Tep60 and
the double unit version 2Tep60 to provide more power to certain
routes.
