| Amtrak - the Only National Passenger Operator | |||
Amtrak
is the only national passenger train operator in the U.S. It was
originally
formed in the 1970's from the remains of the passenger
traffic of several major U.S. railroads. Even with cosntant budget
squeeses,
Amtrak has managed to create and maintain some passenger traffic
coverage aound the country. However, the future looks brighter with
promises to double it's budget in the coming few years.
