  Sm3 , intercity traffic, Pendolino's Finnish variant
Sm4 , regional traffic, 2 car single story unit, partly low floor

Electric Locomotives:

VR-Yhtyma rolling stock - Inter City train units
 Sm3 "Pendolino"

Sm3 (S=Electric M=Motor 3=third model of)
Sm3 pendolinos are common in connections between the few cities in Finland. The tilting Pendolinos allow using lower level track infrastructure in a sparcely inhabited northern country at higher speeds by tilting tin the curves..

More information to follow in the furure.

 Sm1 "Sami"

Sm1 (S=Electric M=Motor 1=first model of)
Sm1's traffic daily around the metropolitan Helsinki area on the tracks where a relatively low speed is not an issue. Sm1's were built mainly from 1960's to 1970's.

More information to follow in the future.

 Sm2 "Sami"

Sm2 (S=Electric M=Motor 2=second model of)
Sm2's traffic daily around the metropolitan Helsinki area on the tracks where a relatively low speed is not an issue. Sm2's were built mainly from 1970's to 1980's. The high floor units have a power car for 25kW and a coach coupled together. During the rush hours typically from 2 to 4 units are coupled together to provide enough capacity.

VR-Yhtyma rolling stock - Electric locomotives
 Sr1 "Siperian susi" (Siberian Wolf)

Sr1, bough in the 1970's as exchange for goods between the Soviet Union and Finland still over hundred of these traditional low tech DC electric locomotives serve daily the rail networks in Finland.

Kerava is a cross roads of the rail traffic with tracks leading to all directions. Sr1 number 3093 accelerating from Kerava to Sköldvik oil refinery. The trains originates in Riihimäki, the largest rail yard near helsinki area.

 Sr2 "Marsu" (Guinea pig)

Sr2, The "Guinea Pigs" originate in Switzerland, where the similar locomotives are of the class Re460's/Re465's. Thyristor controlled AC power houses of 6000 kW have enough traction power to pull even the heavier trains at higher speeds, so it's common to spot these locomotives in front of the Inter City and Inter City 2 trains for the Finnish VR-Yhtyma. The type is used for freight as well, including the fast piggy back trains between Helsinki and Oulu.  This locomotive type can even feed part of the braking energy back to electric networks, so this high tech machine can be considered "green".

The type DV12 can be used as well on passenger trains as on freight, as single unit or more coupled together. Many of the units have been repainted to red/white/gray color sheme.
