4rail.net - Super Fast - SNCF TGV Roster

This page will collect some of the hundreds of SNCF TGV pictures from our picture providers. We will start the documentation with the TGV-PSE units.

Click the picture to see the larger version of it (if available).

 TGV-PSE On Line

Above the original colored TGV-PSE double unit somewhere south of Paris on the LGV-PSE in 1987. Picture by Pekka Siiskonen. Sorry, no larger version available for the moment.

Another view of the sleek orange TGV-PSE in Lyon, south of Paris, in 1983. Picture by Pekka Siiskonen. No larger original available for the moment.

TGV-PSE's at Gare de Lyon in Paris...

Both generations of the TGV trains in the SNCF's newer gray and blue livery. The TGV-PSE (TGV Paris Sud-Est) was originally painted like the one on the pictures above, but since the year 2000 all have been painted with the new colors and refurbished inside to meet the demand of the comfort loving French passengers. On the left TGV-Duplex number 208 is one of the first newer generation double decked units. Picture by John McKey 2004.

Just arrived from Nice on the French Riviera this TGV-PSE unit number 05 glided extremely slowly the last 200 meters through the rain to the bay at the Paris Gare de Lyon. Picture by John McKey 2002.

Gare du Nord in Paris is also the nightly resting place for this TGV-PSE unit number 12. Picture by John McKey 2002.

TGV-PSE units 17 and 96 are ready for departure for their next destinations at Paris Gare du Nord. The Thalys unit 4306 (also a TGV unit) links Paris with Belgium, the Netherlands and Eastern Germany. Picture by Sanna Siissalo 2008.

 SNCF TGV-PSE's outside France

The TGV-PSE Lyria unit number 117 is shown here in Switzerland, probably in Zurich. To cross the mountains to Switzerland required SNCF, co-owner of the train with the SBB/CFF of Switzerland to let install triple electric systems for certain TGV units. Picture by Ilkka Siissalo 2000's.

Another TGV-PSE unit number 47of the triple voltage TGV-Lyria fleet. Lyria is the TGV cooperation between the The French Railways SNCF and the SBB/CFF state railways of Switzerland. The eastern direction passenger numbers have been growing steadily since the opening of the LGV-EST, the latest of the French super high speed lines east of Paris. The growth originates both in market growth and the decline of the airtrafic due to competition from the frequent connections by more comfortable trains linking city centers.

 SNCF TGV-Atlantique
TGV-Atlantique unit 354 makes a quick stop on its route to Paris. France seems tp be extremely Paris centric with most TGV routes linking the city with the rest of the country. Picture by Ilkka Siissalo 2000's.

 SNCF TGV-Réseaus

TGV-Réseau units 508 and 509 form  a 400 meter train, maximum for the French platform length, here seen under beatiful architecture of Paris Gare du Nord. Picture by John McKey 2003.

TGV-Réseau unit 552, again, at Gare du Nord (or Est?). Behind the TGV is shown the nose af a Deutsche Bahn ICE3 unit. ICE3's started their daily visits to Paris once the LGV-EST super high speed line was opened in 2008. Picture by Sanna Siissalo 2008.

 SNCF TGV-Duplexes
TGV Duplex nr 235
Probably the most popular TGV-unit unit, Mehano makes a H0 scale model of this unit, 235 TGV-Duplex waits for its turn to depart for a depot to be cleaned inside and outside after a rainy day.

This is all of the TGV's for the time, more pictures will be added later. Please see other TGV pages to see more pictures of all types!
