Multiple Units X2 (ex.
X2000)
 X2 once
was the pride of the Swedish train
industry. At the time considered as a a "high speed" train on the
normal track with it's tilting mechanism 43 train sets were
manufactured so this type of a passenger train is very common on the
Swedish long distance passenger service. Picture shows the class 1412
fo 1413 train set with the driving trailer UB2X/UB2XK at the front. Technical

color scemes for the X2 trains. On the left the Linx-sceme which was
used on the Oslo - Stockholm service. The service was not an economical
success die to missing high speed track and the planes took over. On
the right the SJ sceme that most of us remember from the years long
gone for the X2000 trains.

X60
 X60 double unit 6020+60xx of SL here seen by Solna
depot in Stockholm decelerates for the next stop duringf the morning
rush hour. The X60 belongs to Alstom Coradia family, a very
typical choise for Swedish railroading. Coradia EMUs design is
strikingly similar to competitor Bombardier Fransicilien EMUs of
Paris.
Technical
details for X60 -> Builder: Alstom -> EMU type: Coradia
Nordic -> Owned and operated by: SL (Stockholms
Lokaltrafik) -> Delivered to use: 2005 - 2008, 2010 - 2011 ->
Number of units built: 71, 12 more in order -> Units in
operation: 71 -> Unit numbers: 6001 - 6071 ->
Configuration: six modules coupled together with Jacobs bogies

-> Capacity: 374 in one class ->
operations area: Stockholm area -> Unit
length: 107 meters ( feet) -> Unit width m ( ft) -> Unit height m ( ft) -> Unit power: 15kV
16,7 Hz: 3000 kW (4080 Hp) 12
x 250 kW for each unit track
motors of type A6HCA 1755C -> Power to weight ratio (Hp):
14,5 ( W/kg) -> Operational max. speed: 160 km/h (100 mph)
-> Train control: Swedish -> Mass, metric tons: 206
metric tons -> Gauge: 1435 mm (normal 4' 8,5''
gauge) -> Wheel diameter: 850 mm -> Coupler type:
Scharfenberg? -> Multiple operations: 2 units of the same
type -> Axle weight max: ~15 tons
-> Other: - units are
airconditioned for both passengers and train personnel
- In Sweden the harsh winter conditions add requirements
for the trains often subjected
to snow and ice building in their structure
during the winter months. The ice building is especially
severe around the bogies and
brakes melt snow/ice while slowing and the water
freezes again while stopping at the stations.
